For our final project presentations, everyone will have the opportunity to demo their project to the class. Please prepare a 7-10 minute presentation that includes the following:
- Briefly introduce the primary source(s) at the center of your project: what is it? where was it housed before (digitally somewhere, only in print, in a library archive, etc)? What drew you to edit and further explore this book/collection?
- Why does your primary source(s) benefit from digital editing, such as the one you are offering on the Scalar site?
- Who is your primary target audience, and why? (please do not say “everyone”)
- Discuss the user experience you designed on Scalar, going over the ways in which users can explore content in your section of Scalar, and how you used specific Scalar affordances to facilitate interactivity. Show us at least one page in detail that you think best represents the project.
- In what ways did your project change from initial proposal to final draft?
- What was the biggest challenge in completing this project, and how did you overcome it?
- If you could have used a different platform for this project, what would it have been, and why?
As you will have until the 16th to complete your project, this is also a chance to seek feedback and get a sense of how real users explore the site, so you may also use this presentation as a chance to ask for help or get a sense of how real-life users make of the structure of the site. We will have some dedicated exploration time for everyone to click through and evaluate each other’s work.
